In the 80’s and 90’s Las Vegas was known for its themed hotels. You know hotels like Luxor, Excalibur, Treasure Island and The Venetian. In the past 20 years or so designers have decided to “de-theme” some older hotels while creating new luxury hotels, like Aria and Cosmopolitan, without an overt theme. There’s a time and a place for both types of atmosphere when visiting Las Vegas.
The themed hotels offer the ability to make games that you can’t play at unthemed hotels. Many of the themed hotel games are free or cheap to play and make for a fun activity while in Las Vegas. Many of the themes offer you an excuse to go “Around The World”. When you go around the world on the Vegas Strip you can just stop in a casino for a picture, grab a souvenir, have a drink or bite to eat or even hit the tables. The options of the game are endless really but let’s look at the least expensive idea and go over great places around the world (in Vegas) to grab a picture.
Luxor – The interior at Luxor has been renovated a few times since opening. If you want to grab the most iconic picture you should head outside to the Vegas Strip and stand in front of the huge pyramid.
New York – New York – You can head inside and grab a picture with some of the famous signage from New York City. Two of the best picture locations are outside where you’ll find both the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge.
Paris – Paris offers multiple places to snap a memorable Eiffel Tower photo. If you prefer an indoor photo you can snag a picture in front of the base of the Eiffel Tower. Head outside and you can take a low angle picture with the Eiffel Tower in the background. If you don’t mind spending a few bucks head up to the Eiffel Tower for one of the best views of Las Vegas.
Caesars Palace – There are so many great photo ops at Caesars Palace to take you back to old Greece. You can get a great picture at one of the many statues that would make most people happy. If you’re really persistent you might find actors playing the role of Caesar and Cleopatra roaming through the hotel.
The Venetian – If you’re not in the mood to walk the Vegas Strip from one end to the other you can hop in a cab and snap some beautiful photos right in the port cochere. The roof of the port cochere has paintings that make you think you’re actually in Venice. You can step out of the taxi for a low angle picture and hop back into the taxi head anywhere else you’d like to go.
There are more photo ops at each hotel but these are some of the most memorable. These are very specific destination based hotels but you can expand the concept. You can always take trip to the beach might include Mandalay Bay, The Mirage and Treasure Island. Theme hotel travelling around the Vegas Strip is cheap activity and only limited by your imagination.
