Summer is here and we’re keeping the fun outside. We’ve recommended some places to eat outside on the Vegas Strip and people watch. We’ve also recommended a handful of places to enjoy ice cream and desserts outside on the Vegas Strip. It’s great to enjoy the heat while beating it with some sweet ice cream.
This week we want to head downtown for 13 great bars and restaurants where you can grab a drink outside. One of the best parts about some of these bars is that they’re located outside but in the shade of the Fremont Street Experience. Sitting in direct sunlight can make it feel upwards of 20 degrees hotter. That makes a world of difference when it’s 115 degrees in the shade.
Bar 46 (Golden Nugget) – Bar 46 is located right on Fremont Street and is a cut out lounge from the Golden Nugget casino. You may even get a slight breeze from the casino air conditioning if you choose the right seat. Note: there may be a 2 drink minimum on busy nights here.
Bier Garten (Plaza) – Bier Garten tries to replicate a traditional beer garden with American craft beer. The beer selection isn’t huge but it’s better than you’ll find in many bars. Sitting outside and drinking beer on fresh grass under the pergola is a nice way to enjoy a day.
Bin 702 (Downtown Container Park) – There are a few bar seats at this wine bar inside of a mock shipping container. Don’t worry about seating, there is ample seating in Downtown Container Park and a lawn nearby. A plate of cheese and meat and a couple glasses of wine are a great way to spend an evening outside in Vegas.
Commonwealth (Fremont Street) – The Commonwealth is a high end bar with extremely beautiful finishes and a great cocktail and beer list. It’s second floor leads outside to a beautiful view of the Fremont East part of Downtown Vegas and the El Cortez. Note: You’ll pay a little more than the typical Downtown Vegas bar. Someone has to pay for those finishes.
Denny’s (Neonopolis) – Yes, Denny’s. There is a patio outside of this Denny’s located under the Fremont Street experience in Neonopolis. Sure you can eat but there is a full bar to drink from. The best part of this patio is that you’re out on Fremont Street and under shade.
Gold Spike (Downtown Vegas) – Gold Spike used to be a casino but it’s now a bar with the decor of a college student’s dorm room. It’s relaxing inside but the outdoor living room is a great place to enjoy a drink outside. You can just relax or you can play games like giant (6’) Jenga or corn hole.
Hennessey’s Tavern (Fremont Street Experience) – Hennessey’s Tavern is known for having one of the best burgers in Las Vegas but we’re not concerned with that right now. You can sit outside on the patio and throw back some beers. This is a traditional no-frills tavern which is a nice alternative from all of new bars and restaurants in Downtown Vegas.
Nacho Daddy (Off Fremont Street) – Nacho Daddy is located on 4th street just off of the Fremont Street Experience. They have some of the best margarita’s in Downtown Vegas to go along with delicious street tacos. You have the option of sitting outside on the sidewalk patio or inside at the bar where the window will be wide open to the street unless it’s disturbingly hot.
Park On Fremont (Fremont East) – Park is located across the street from the Fremont Street Experience. There are tables outside in front of the bar and restaurant but you’ll want to head to the rear and sit outside in a fenced off area. The sitting area is almost serene (you know, for Vegas) and a great place to grab a drink.
Patio Bar (Four Queens) – The Patio Bar outside of Four Queens is an outdoor walk-up bar on Fremont Street that has a few seats. The best part of this bar is that it’s located next to the 3rd street stage so you can enjoy a cold one and watch some free live music.
Picnic (Downtown Grand) – Picnic is the rooftop pool at Downtown Grand. It’s free to enter for guests but will cost $25 to enter when there’s entertainment. The pool deck has food, drinks and gambling. Almost sounds like a good reason just to stay at Downtown Grand.
Whisky Licker & Cowgirl Up Cantina (Binion’s) – Binions added two outdoor bars to their casino in the past year. Whiskey Licker is huge with ample and comfortable seating while Cowgirl Up Cantina is right on Fremont Street with horse saddles as bar stools. Whisky Licker is more comfortable if you want hang out and drink.
