There are a lot free things to do in Las Vegas. A lot of the free things to do in Las Vegas are inside but there are still many things to do outside. Since it’s the beginning of summer we might as well head outside and enjoy the beautiful weather!
There are free things to do day and night on the Vegas Strip, in the mountains and in Downtown Vegas. The best part of these free activities is that they are completely free and fun for the whole family. Here are 12 of our favorite free things to do all across the Las Vegas valley.
Be Cliche – The “Welcome To Las Vegas” sign is iconic. It’s outside near Mandalay Bay and is a place that every tourist should stop by. Nothing says VEGAS! more than this sign.
Bellagio Fountains – The Bellagio Fountains are the most popular free attraction in Las Vegas. Enjoy a free show of the dancing waters every 15 – 30 minutes during the day and at night. There’s a different feeling to the shows when the sun goes down.
First Friday – Enjoy the art, music and culture of the Las Vegas arts community outdoors on the first Friday of every month. First Friday is a free event for singles and families to enjoy. Get weird.
Flamingo Wildlife Habitat – Head inside the casino and to the rear. Once you reach the section of the casino that’s farthest from the Vegas Strip you’ll see some of the most crisp landscaping that you can touch on the Vegas Strip. A short stroll and you’ll enter the free Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo. This is one of the most serene areas on the Vegas Strip.
Fremont Street Experience – There are multiple ways to enjoy the Fremont Street Experience. You can simply walk the mall of casinos, you can watch the hourly light show on the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience or you can enjoy the free concerts.
Go To The Park – The Downtown Container Park on Fremont Street is an outdoor mall with a park and treehouse in the middle. Bring the kids here for the park, do a little shopping, hang out on the grass and watch a band. The Downtown Container Park is a great way to spend an afternoon outside in Vegas with the family.
Go For A Drive – Explore the desert. You can head out to Red Rock Canyon and drive between the mountain ranges. If you’re in the mood to slow the drive down you can pay a few bucks and drive the trails near the mountain where you’ll probably see some wild desert animals roaming the land.
Hoover Dam – The Hoover Dam is one of the modern industrial wonders of the world. You can take a drive out to the dam and spend hours walking around this amazing part of American history. If you don’t feel like renting a car and driving there are plenty of tour operators that will bring you here.
The Linq – The Linq is the mall area between The Quad and Flamingo. There are plenty of stores to spend an afternoon checking out. If you’re feeling hungry or thirsty there are restaurants and bars to fill any cravings.
Pawn Stars – Yes, Gold & Silver Pawn is a store with a roof. If you go see the Pawn Stars shop anytime after it opens you’ll certainly stand in line waiting for your turn to check out the store where the TV show is filmed. In the summer they have misters flowing to keep you cool.
Take A Walk – Walk the Vegas Strip and enjoy the chaos of tourists and casinos like you won’t see anywhere else. This is a tour that never gets old.
Take a Hike – Hop in a car and head out to Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston and enjoy the nature that only the desert can offer. Mount Charleston is about 20-30 degrees cooler than the Vegas Strip. This feels great in the summer.
